Book Spotlight: “Wisdom From A Turtle” by Michael McWilliamson
“I am a thirty-eight-year-old college dropout and convicted felon. I was born and raised in Maryland, where I still live today and sell junk on eBay for a living. I spend my free time playing video games, doing mediocre sketch art, playing guitar (badly), and thinking deep thoughts. Since any idiot can spit out a book, let me just say that it is this idiot’s hope that just one single person will read this and make a real and spiritual change to his or her life. Despite the random and sometimes crude humor in this book, I hope one or more persons will learn through my testimonial message that Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the light to a better life and a better eternity.” -Michael McWilliamson
For author Michael McWilliamson, a sixteen-month stint in jail gave him ample opportunity to reflect about life, his past, and his mistakes. It also gave him the chance to read the Bible, learn about God, and turn his life around. In this memoir, McWilliamson candidly talks about the insights into his life experiences and discusses how those experiences shaped him into becoming the man he is today. Wisdom from a Turtle shares details about his family and his upbringing and interweaves biblical principles into the lessons he’s gleaned from his past. In addition, he provides commentary on a variety topics from raising children, getting a job, spending (or not spending money), and dealing with today’s technology. Using hilarious cartoons, McWilliamson not only pokes fun at himself as he relives his past, but also supplies the mental and spiritual tools to help understand and interact with others. The messages communicated in Wisdom from a Turtle provide lessons to better cope with life’s challenges.

Excerpt from Uniquely Yours: A poem For Every Occasion
Don’t Forget
Before you take that special trip,
To the mall for that special gift.
As you make a thorough check over your list,
Remembering those you might have missed.
As you include family, friends and significant others.
Remember the less fortunate; your sisters and brothers.
So make your list and check it twice.
But remember to heed Jesus’ advice.
Include the least of my children, you see.
What you do for the least of these is also done for me.

This is a beautiful poem, to God be the Glory. Keep doing what God has placed in your heart to do, live your dream and be the difference.
Thanks. That is what we all must be-different–Ourselves!!!
